2005 Bird Definitives

The "high" value bird definitives (20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 75s, RM1, RM2 and RM5) were released on May 14, 2005. These bird definitives were supposed to replace the previous high value fruit definitives (40s, 50s, 80s, RM1, RM2, RM5, RM10 and RM20). However, the replacement of old (fruit) high value definitives with the new (bird) high value definitives was not done in a proper manner. Instead, some of the old (fruit) and some of the new (bird) high value definitives were simultaneously used side by side. So, it creates a big mess. Maybe the denominations of the "high" value bird definitives are not high enough that the fruit high value definitives have to take the role of "high"..... hehe

Anyway, the original bird "high" value definitives were printed in sheet-of-20. Eventhough the denominations of these bird definitives are not high enough, it still demands a good sum for collectors to buy a sheet set (eight sheet-of-20s; face value RM203). Therefore, many collectors did not buy sheet set when the stamps were released. Now, the sheet set for these bird definitives is quite hard to find. These high value bird definitive sheets do look beautiful, don't they?

Traditional Kites 2005 - Perf Variety

The traditional kite set issued on October 10, 2005 containing three denominations i.e. 30s, 50s and RM1. All the denominations have two types of perforation i.e. P12 and P13.5. I am not sure which ones are less common. However, I pretty sure that it took me quite some time to obtain all the perf varieties from various post offices.

Anyway, I had a quick check on the eBay listing for this stamp set on May 26, 2009. I found three listings on this stamp set:
1. 30s P13.5, 50s P12 & RM1 P13.5
2. 30s P13.5, 50s P13.5 & RM1 P12
3. 30s P13.5, 50s P12 & RM1 P12

So, the 30s P12 seems to be less common then........

Kite - Flaw

Pos Malaysia released the below Kite miniature sheet (denomination RM2) on 10 October 2005. The miniature was issued together with three stamps with denominations 30 sen, 50 sen and RM1. A flaw on the "L" of the world "TRADITIONAL" was recorded for this miniature. The top part of the "L" disappears in some miniature sheets. This flaw is found to be consistent.

The top one is a normal one but the bottom one contains a flaw on "L" of the word" TRADITIONAL".

A close-up on the flaw. The top part of the "L" disappears.
