2013 - Big Cats

Pos Malaysia released its last issue of stamp (entitled Big Cats) for year 2013 on 23 December 2013 - four stamps in a set and a miniature sheet. I must have to say that the stamps and miniature sheet would have been looked nicer if the colour were more saturated.

2013 - Baba and Nyonya Heritage

Pos Malaysia released a stamp issue entitled Baba and Nyonya Heritage on 29 November 2013. Personally I find these stamps are attractive. The miniature sheet has a special feature - die cut holes onto the embroidery (inside the stamp area) on the Kebaya. These stamps and miniature sheet were printed by CARTOR - a France Security Printers. If not mistake, this is the very first time stamp of Malaysia printed by CARTOR.

2013 - 100 Years of Banking

Pos Malaysia released a set of stamps on 23 November 2013 commemorating 100 Years of Banking.

2013 - Malaysia Day Overprint

Pos Malaysia released an overprint stamp in format of minisheet (four stamps in a miniature sheet) for the stamp fair event (Stamp Week 2013) held on 13-19 November 2013. However, this overprint minisheet was only put on sale on 15 November 2013 due to logistic problem. The overprint (love Malaysia logo) is imprinted inside the stamp, so this overprint stamp is basically a new stamp in philatelic sense. If one pays attention to the minisheet or the stamp event (Stamp Week 2013), one will notice that the event is actually called as OMG Stamp Week 2013. I was told that OMG stands for Oh Memang Gempa. The OMG has been used on this type annual philatelic event by Pos Malaysia since year 2012. It is interesting to see if the next stamp week event would be called as OMG Stamp Week 2014.

2013 - Rare Fruits

Pos Malaysia released a set of three stamps entitled Rare Fruits on 28 October 2013. The denominations of the stamps are 60s, 80s and RM1.20. For the very first time in the philatelic history of Malaysia, denomination RM1.20 appeared on stamps of Malaysia.

2013 - Colours of My World

Pos Malaysia released a set of three stamp (Colours of My World)on 22 October 2013. These stamps have Braille writing. Fluorescent marking (in shape of frame) is adopted as security measure for these stamps.

2013 - Thailand World Stamp

Pos Malaysia issued an exhibition sheetlet to take part in a stamp exhibition in Thailand - Thailand World Stamp - held on 2-14 August 2013. This sheetlet is not an overprint. The design of this exhibition sheetlet is based on the Royal Visit miniature sheet issued on 13 September 2012.

Malaysia Day Stamp - Ring Flaws

I have detected a few ring flaws on the Malaysia Day stamp issued on 19 September 2013. I believe that there would be more ring flaws on this stamp.

2013 - Malaysia Day

Pos Malaysia released a stamp issue on 19 September 2013. Only a single stamp with denomination 60s was released to commemorate 50 years of formation of Malaysia. I must have to say that the practice of issuing a single stamp for a stamp issue is uncommon for Pos Malaysia. The last time for single-stamp issue to appear was Aga Khan stamp (denomination 50s) in year 2010.

To be honest, the design of this single stamp is quite appealing, and I quite like it.

2013 - Musea and Artifacts

Pos Malaysia released a set of 10 stamps entitled Musea and Artifacts on 31 August 2013. The stamps were sold at post office counters nationwide on 2 September 2013 because 31 August 2013 was a holiday. I was a bit surprised when I saw these stamps at the post office counter as the artifact images on the stamps were masked by black ink, and I only came to know later about the thermochromatic ink (black ink) is being applied on the stamps. Well, the innovative feature (thermochromatic ink) used on the stamps is definitely not in my favour - it makes the stamps look ugly.... and that I am still figuring out how to really view the artifact images (behind the thermochromatic ink) properly without damaging the stamps.... really awful.

Stamps of Malaysian Salad - Watermark

The stamps of Malaysian salad were released on 25 July 2013. The stamps were printed by Percetakan Keselamatan National, and they were printed on SPM watermarked paper (side way watermark). The stamp composition in a stamp sheet is unique - two stamps are positioned upright and the two stamps are positioned inverted - forming a plate shape composition. Therefore, each of the four stamps will have two types of watermark - SPM sideway up and SPM sideway down.

Coral Stamps - Plate Numbers

The Coral stamps were issued on 28 June 2013, and they were printed by Southern Colour (New Zealand). The stamp sheets come in different plate numbers - 1A, 1B and 1C. If you are into plate numbers, this stamp issue renders you a small excitement.

2013 - Australia Overprint

This overprint MS is of the Australia stamp exhibition held on 10-15 May 2013.

Pos Malaysia released a set of stamps entitled Malaysian Salad on 25 July 2013.

2013 - Corals

Pos Malaysia released a set of stamps and a miniature on topic of Corals on 28 June 2013.

2013 - Wonders of Forests

Pos Malaysia released a stamp issue entitled Wonders of Forests on 13 May 2013. The stamps come in three mini sheetlets portraying three forests in Malaysia - Taman Negara, Royal Belum and Meliau Basin - with each mini sheetlet containing five RM1-stamps. The stamps are printed by Southern Printer (New Zealand) on adhesive gum paper. I find these stamps are attractive, and I have to say that I like very much the stamps with rafflesia, pitcher plant and birds. The only draw back is that the stamps are printed on adhesive gum as I am not a fan of adhesive-gum stamps.

2013 - Lighthouses II

Pos Malaysia released stamp issue entitled Lighthouses - Series II on 30 April 2013. I find the stamps and miniature sheet are attractive. If you pay attention to the paper of the stamps and miniature sheet, you may notice that the paper contains fluorescent fibres as security measure. Actually, the stamps and miniature sheet were printed by Chan Wanich Security Printing Company based in Bangkok, Thailand. If not mistaken, this is the first time Pos Malaysia sought printing service for her stamps from Thailand.
