The horizontal and vertical perforations for these RM10 revenue stamps are slightly shifted, particularly more significant on the horizontal perforation, where the serial number at the bottom margin of the stamp sheet slightly enters into the stamp.

Revenue RM10 - Serial Number

The currently used revenue stamps are printed in a format of sheetlet of 20 stamps. The right bottom corner margin of the sheetlet is printed with serial number. However, some of the RM10-stamp sheetlets are printed without serial number.

Revenue Stamp - New Font on Control Number

I noted that the RM10 revenue stamp has new font type for its control number. The new font type has a font size smaller than the old one. It would be nice if we could know when (the control number) the old font type ends and the new font type starts on the RM10 revenue stamp, and I guess this would also be applied on the other denominations of the revenue stamps....... maybe someone would like to take up this challenge to get the answer..... hehehehehehe

Revenue Stamp - RM1

The new design revenue stamps were released on February 1, 2009. Five denominations were issued at that time i.e. RM5, RM10, RM50, RM100 and RM250. So, the smallest denomination at the initial release was RM5. However, RM1 revenue stamp is needed for some documents due to change of revenue policy (I am not sure for what kind of documents), therefore the Inland Revenue Department has decided to release RM1 revenue stamp. The new denominaton RM1 was released in August 2009. As the other denominations, the RM1 revenue stamp has similar design and is also printed in sheetlet of 20.

After showing the fluorescent marks on the revenue stamps (high values and low values) issued in 1990, one may just be wondering if the newly issued revenue stamps (issued in 2009) will have any fluorescent mark. Yes, the new revenue stamps do have fluorescent mark...............

Revenue Stamp 1990 - Fluorescent Mark (II)

In 1990, Pos Malaysia released new revenue stamps. The low value (10c to RM5) small format revenue stamps were released on April 2, 1990 while the high value (RM10, RM50 and RM100) large format revenue stamps were released in July 1990. The low value revenue stamps have MALAYSIA HASIL fluorescent mark. However, the fluorescent mark for the high value revenue stamps is rather different. The official Malaysia government logo was used as flourescent mark in the high value revenue stamps.

Revenue Stamp 1990 - Fluorescent Mark (I)

I talked about fluorescent mark on the palm tree stamps (issued on May 19, 2009) two weeks ago. Actually, the security feature of fluorescent mark on stamps is not really new for Malaysian stamps. The revenue stamps released on April 2, 1990 have this type of fluorescent mark as well. One will able to see "MALAYSIA HASIL" on the stamps under uv light. The corner margin showing colour asteriks aslo contains fluorescent asteriks! One more security element on these revenue stamps is the incorporation of fluorescent fibres in the paper.

Revenue Stamp RM10 - Control Number

The newly issued revenue stamps are actually printed in sheet of 20. The right bottom corner margin is printed with a control number. I spotted two different fonts used in printing the control number.

Lately, I purchased two RM10 revenue stamps (right bottom corner) with consecutive control numbers (192895 and 192896). However, both the control numbers have different font types. Font type I (control number 192896) seems to be more common than font type II (control number 192895). During the purchase, I also noted that control number 192890 (I did not purchase) has font type I. My speculation of the font type II is that the sheet with control number 192895 missed the printing of control number (with font type I), and that it was later printed with control number 192895 using different machine/method.

Revenue Stamps - New Design

A set of new design revenue stamps was released on February 1, 2009. This set of new revenue stamps consists of five denominations i.e. RM5, RM10, RM50, RM100 and RM250 (the RM5 and RM10 are shown at the images below). The old design revenue stamps which were issued on April 2, 1990 will be phased out by July 31, 2009. In other words, by July 31, 2009, the old ones will become invalid.

Revenue Stamps - 1975-1983

Below is a set of revenue stamps issued during the period of 1975-1983. I think the denomination $1000 is the highest value for any of the revenue stamps issued by Malaysia postal authority.

Malaysia Revenue Stamps

The revenue stamps of Malaysia normally carry the word "HASIL". Below are the currently used low value revenue stamps. 10c, 50c, $1 and $5 were released on 2 April, 1990; 15c and $2 were released later (I do not have the exact date of their release). These stamps were printed by Perum Percetakan Uang R1, Indonesia. The quality of printing is substandard.
