Brunei - Carnivorous Plants

Brunei postal authority released a fine set of stamps on topic of flora on 2 October, 2000. These plant species are unique - they are carnivorous plants. The 30 sen stamp depicts a rafflesia flower (Rafflesia pricei); the 50 sen on rhizanthes flower (Rhizanthes lowii); and the 60 sen on pitcher plant (Nepenthes rafflesiana). These plant species are gorgeous and endemic to Borneo.

Malaysia - Highland Birds

Below is another my favourite stamp set of Malaysia - highland birds, released on 4 January, 1997. The stamps were designed by Peter Chuah. The artworks displayed are marvelous. I'm always delighted by floral/fauna stamps designed with white/plain backgroud.

ROC (Taiwan) - Constitution

I started collecting stamps at the age of nine. I still remember one of the stamps that I obtained from a friend in my early years of stamping was the used copy of 2-dollar Taiwanese stamp issued in 1977 (commemoration of 30th anniversary of constitution). I was amazed by the tiny Chinese characters in the stamps, and tried to used a magnifying glass (for kid) to read the characters because the characters are too small to be visualized by naked eyes. The used 2-dollar stamp have long been gone in my album (I'm not sure if I lost it or I gave it to friend). Many years later, however, I acquired the mint stamp set (I guess through eBay). This 2-dollar stamp reminds me my innocent childhood......... time flies.......

PR China - Kids

People's Republic of China released a set of two stamps depicting kids on 16 February, 1984. The faces of the kids are so cute and adorable. They are definitely beautiful stamps to sit in an album.

Malaysia - Quails and Partridges

One of the favourite topics on Malaysian modern stamps is bird. Among the many bird stamp sets released by Malaysia postal authority, I particularly fancy the stamp set on quails and partridges issued on 22 January, 2001. The stamp set consisted of three denominations (30 sen, 50 sen and RM1) and a miniature sheet containing two stamps (two designs of RM2). This stamp set was designed by Mr. Teh Yew Kiang, a well-known artist on subject of birds. The artworks on birds of Mr. Teh are so fine and vivid. I have to agree that this stamp set is one of the most beautiful sets released by Malaysia postal authority.

Singapore - Ginger Flower

Singapore Post released a set of flora and fauna definitive stamps (14 denominations) on 6 June, 2007. One of the stamps attracted my attention..... a ginger flower stamps (2nd Local - NVI stamp). The ginger flower shown on the stamp is a torch ginger, scientific name is Etlingera elatior. I went to Cameron Highlands, Malaysia a few weeks ago and I bumped into this beautiful ginger species in one of the aborigine settlements that I visited. I managed to snap a few good shots of the ginger flower in bloom. The flower is absolutely spectacular! Well, back to the stamp.... I think the stamp is well designed, and I like it.

Hong Kong - Heartwarming Stamps

The design of the Hong Kong stamps is generally good. One of the Hong Kong stamp sets attracts my attention is the greeting (heartwarming) stamps issued on 28 November, 2006. The design of the stamps is simple and yet creative and attractive, and the colours chosen are good. I just couldn't keep my eyes off them, could you? This stamp set was designed by Mr. Arde Lam.

2008 - Unique Flowers

Pos Malaysia released a set of flora stamps (2 designs of 30 sen and 2 designs of 50 sen) and a miniature sheet (RM5) on 9 October, 2008. The flower species depicted on the stamps are Goniothalamus tapis, Gloriosa superba; Quisqualis indica, Michelia figo and Epiphyllum oxypetalum.
