My Other Interest

Apart from stamp/packet collecting, I am also into photographing/studying dragonflies and damselflies. The dragonflies and damselflies are known as Odonata in scientific term. In Malaysia, dragonflies and damselflies are called pepatung and pepatung jarum respectively. They also come in various local names, such as Puting Beliung or Ttuyuh (in Kelantan and Terengganu), Cakcibor (in Perak), Sesibu and Sibu-sibu or Sibur (in Pahang/Johor). More than 420 species are known to occur in Malaysia with Peninsular Malaysia containing more than 240 species. I have a blog showing many photos of dragonflies and damselflies. PSM Stamp Fair at Petaling Jaya

Philatelic Society of Malaysia (PSM) was having a stamp fair on 13-14 September 2025 at Community Library Petaling Jaya. This PSM stamp fair was also held to commemorate the 78th Anniversary of PSM. Pos Malaysia was present at the stamp fair to provide a special cancellation for the event. The hornbill overprint miniature sheet (released on 17 April 2025 for the stamp fair at Putrajaya) and the hornbill cover were provided by Pos Malaysia to produce an event cover for the stamp fair.

An event cover was produced using the hornbill overprint miniature sheet and the hornbill cover cancelled with the event special cancellation and the PSM special catcher commemorating the 78th anniversary of PSM

Visit Selangor 2025 - Fun Stuff

I created two fun items from the products of Visit Selangor 2025. One is made from Visit Selangor 2025 Guide folded leaflet and the other is made from Visit Selangor 2025 paper bag. These guide leaflet and bag paper were acquired as a gift from Visit Selangor 2025 booth during the recent MATTA Fair 2025.

I stuck a Visit Selangor 2025 stamp on one page of the folded leaflet of Visit Selangor 2025 Guide. Then I cancelled the stamp using special first day postmark of the stamp from Kajang Post Office.

FDC - Visit Selangor Year 2025

I made this Visit Selangor Year 2025 first day cover at MATTA Fair 2025 (at MITEC, KL). The Visit Selangor Year 2025 stamp was launched at the MATTA Fair. Pos Malaysia had a booth to sell the stamp and a special postmark with MATTA Fair was provided for collector to cancel the stamp. At the same time, Visit Selangor 2025 had a special booth at the fair to provide catchers for stamping.

MATTA Fair 2025

MATTA Fair 2025 was held on 6-7 September 2025 at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with Visit Selangor Year 2025. A stamp to commemorate Visit Selangor Year was launched on 6 September 2025 at the MATTA Fair 2025 (click here to see the stamp). Pos Malaysia erected a booth to sell the new launched stamp. A special postmark (with the wording MATTA Fair Kuala Lumpur) for cancellation of the new stamp was provided by Pos Malaysia. Visit Selangor Year 2025 booth was also present at the MATTA fair to provide information to public. Various different of Visit Selangor Year 2025 catchers were provided by the Visit Selangor Year 2025 booth for public to make postcard stamping. Apart from the Visit Selangor 2025 stamp, Visit Kedah 2025 stamp (click here to see the stamp) was also on sale at the Pos Malaysia booth. Free shutter buses were provided by the MATTA Fair to ferry visitors from/to KL Sentral and Sunway Putra Mall.
