2005 Bird Definitives 50sen - 2008/1

The 50 sen bird definitive has reached the serial number 2008/1.

National Definitive - 40 sen Rambutan

Currently, four denominations of the fruit national definitive (issued in 1986) are still in circulation. They are 40 sen, RM2, RM10 and RM20. The 40 sen has reached the serial number 2008/1. I was just wondering when the bird definitive 40 sen (issued in 2005)or the state defintive 40 sen (issued in 2007) is going to replace the rambutan definitive 40 sen.

2008 - Treasures of the Nation's Visual Arts

The National Art Gallery of Malaysia (Balai Seni Lukis Negara) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Pos Malaysia released a set of three stamps on 28 August, 2008 to commemorate the event. The stamps portray some of the art work kept in the gallery. Among the three different art work in the stamps, I think I like "Fruit Season" by Chuah Thean Teng painted on batik.

Spirit of Ledang by Syed Ahmad Jamal (2003); painted using acrylic on canvas

Fruit Season by Chuah Thean Teng (1968); painted on batik

Pago-pago by Abdul Latiff Mohidin (1965); painted using oil on canvas
