2005 Bird Definitives 30 sen - 2009/2 (Second Version)

I was quite taken aback when I saw this 30 sen bird definitive with serial number 2009/2. Many of us thought that the new print of 30 sen bird definitive without watermark and with new Pos Malaysia logo (on sheet margin) first appeared in serial number 2009/3, and 2009/2 was the last serial number with SPM watermark and old Pos Malaysia logo. With the appearence of the record shown below, however, the above hypothesis has been over-ruled. This serial number 2009/2 (second version; images below) somehow is a bit different from the previous one (first version) because the perforations run through the serial number on the second version. The stamps from the second version of this serial number do not have watermark as that of the serial number 2009/3.

Agro-Based Definitives - Sabah 20c: Watermark Inverted

SPM inverted watermark varieties on agro-based definitives have been frequently recorded. One of the inverted watermark varieties that I possess is the 20c Sabah with perforation 12. This P12 SPM inverted variety is from plate number 8A. I have extra copies of this P12 SPM inverted 20c Sabah, and I'm happy to exchage with other agro-based SPM inverted varieties.

Malaysia 2009 - Conservation of Nature

Pos Malaysia released a set of three stamps on June 18, 2009 illustrating the importance of nature conservation. Three elements of nature are portrayed in the stamps - air, water and forest. By the way, these stamps also have the same flourescent mark as that of the palm tree stamps.

Clean Water - Conserving Marine Life

Fresh Air - Conserving Air

Go Green - Conserving Rainforest

Revenue Stamps 2009 - Fluorescent Mark

After showing the fluorescent marks on the revenue stamps (high values and low values) issued in 1990, one may just be wondering if the newly issued revenue stamps (issued in 2009) will have any fluorescent mark. Yes, the new revenue stamps do have fluorescent mark...............

Revenue Stamp 1990 - Fluorescent Mark (II)

In 1990, Pos Malaysia released new revenue stamps. The low value (10c to RM5) small format revenue stamps were released on April 2, 1990 while the high value (RM10, RM50 and RM100) large format revenue stamps were released in July 1990. The low value revenue stamps have MALAYSIA HASIL fluorescent mark. However, the fluorescent mark for the high value revenue stamps is rather different. The official Malaysia government logo was used as flourescent mark in the high value revenue stamps.

Revenue Stamp 1990 - Fluorescent Mark (I)

I talked about fluorescent mark on the palm tree stamps (issued on May 19, 2009) two weeks ago. Actually, the security feature of fluorescent mark on stamps is not really new for Malaysian stamps. The revenue stamps released on April 2, 1990 have this type of fluorescent mark as well. One will able to see "MALAYSIA HASIL" on the stamps under uv light. The corner margin showing colour asteriks aslo contains fluorescent asteriks! One more security element on these revenue stamps is the incorporation of fluorescent fibres in the paper.

Logo Comparison - Bird Definitive 30 sen

The printing of Pos Malaysia Logo on the margin of definitive stamp sheet (100-stamp sheet) has been a practice since 2003. This includes the agro-based product state definitives with sen series and the bird definitives. New Pos Malaysia was launched last year, therefore the new logo subsequently appears on the sheet margin. Below shows the comparison between the old and new Pos Malaysia logo on bird definitive 30 sen.

This is the old Pos Malaysia logo. The logo is printed on the top margin of the 100-stamp sheet, and it first appeared on series number 2005/2. It is noted that the series number 2005/1 has the Pos Malaysia logo printed on the bottom margin of stamp sheet.

This is the new Pos Malaysia logo. Though the new logo was launched in 2008, it was only started to apply on stamp sheet with series number 2009/3.
