The Malaysian Philatelist 2010/2

The Malaysian Philatelist 2010/2 has finally come out. I congratulate Philatelic Society of Malaysia on successfully managing this fine journal. In this issue (2010/2) of the journal, I put up a write-up on 2005 bird definitives. The write-up is an update on gum/watermark varieties and serial number of an earlier one published in the same journal (issue 2010/1). Let me know if you are interested in the article, and I could send you a soft copy. The previous article on the 2005 bird definitives will also be provided upon request.

Actually, I wanted to write something about the 2010 Garden Flower National Definitives for the issue 2010/2. However, I was so occupied in October and November that I had to put off my intention. Well, the last two months have been a busy period for varieties/serial number for these Garden Flower National Definitives, and it is actually worth to wait a bit longer to write something more interesting about these national definitives, I guess. I will try my best to contribute an article on these national definitives in the next issue of The Malaysian Philatelist, hopefully.

Shangri-La

Shangri-La is a mystical place stated in James Hilton's (1933) Lost Horizon. It is an earthly paradise of happy land isolated from outside world. Where is exactly Shangri-La? It is still remained mysterious. However, the below postmark is from Shangri-La! I wish I would visit Shangri-La one day...................

2010 - Traditional Games with Upin and Ipin

Pos Malaysia released a stamp issue on December 13, 2010 containing six stamps and a miniature sheet. These stamps and miniature sheet are of self-adhesive stickers. I only managed to obtain the stamps and miniature sheet today due to my very busy schedule the last three weeks. This is the very first time for Pos Malaysia to issue self-adhesive stamps. The stamps and miniature sheet aslo contain fluorescent mark (can be visualized under uv light), and the flourescent mark is of songket pattern (similar to that used in Current stamps released on January 18, 2010). The perforation of the adhesive stamps is not in die-cut form, but the miniature sheet has die-cut perforation. In other words, one has to tear off the adhesive stamps from the stamp sheet (to separate them individually) before they are used as postage.

What's Up?

I'd been on the run for the last two weeks, and I hardly have time to update my this philatelic blog..... I found a bundle of letters/postcards in my letter box last night when I arrived home. These culmulative letters/postcards are of my 10-day absence from home. I will be on the run again for the next ten days.....
