2013 - Baba and Nyonya Heritage

Pos Malaysia released a stamp issue entitled Baba and Nyonya Heritage on 29 November 2013. Personally I find these stamps are attractive. The miniature sheet has a special feature - die cut holes onto the embroidery (inside the stamp area) on the Kebaya. These stamps and miniature sheet were printed by CARTOR - a France Security Printers. If not mistake, this is the very first time stamp of Malaysia printed by CARTOR.

Kajang Post Office

Kajang Post Office is definitely one of the oldest post offices in Malaysia. It started operating in 1914. Pos Malaysia issued a set of 28 stamps on October 9, 2010 to commemorate old post offices in Malaysia. One of the stamps depicts Kajang Post Office - the old building of the Kajang Post Office. However, the building of Kajang Post Office has been renovated and the Kajang Post Office has adopted a new name Kajang 2020 Post Office. Puan Zaitun Mohammad was the post master of the Kajang Post Office (on the date 9 October 2010; she has now retired). I made a special cover to commemorate the Kajang Post Office using the one of the old post office stamps (with image of Kajang Post Office) issued on 9 October 2010. The stamp was cancelled by Kajang 2020 CDS (counter 2) on 9 October 2010, and the cover was rubber-stamped and signed by the post master Puan Zaitun. I also stamped the cover with the special first day postmark (Kajang).

I guess this cover would be very special for those into collecting special unique first day covers....

50 Years of Malaysia Overprint - Ring Flaw

A small constant green ring flaw is detected in the overprint of 50 Years of Malaysia stamp.

2013 - Malaysia Day Overprint

Pos Malaysia released an overprint stamp in format of minisheet (four stamps in a miniature sheet) for the stamp fair event (Stamp Week 2013) held on 13-19 November 2013. However, this overprint minisheet was only put on sale on 15 November 2013 due to logistic problem. The overprint (love Malaysia logo) is imprinted inside the stamp, so this overprint stamp is basically a new stamp in philatelic sense. You may click here to view the original stamp (50 Years of Malaysia).

If one pays attention to the minisheet or the stamp event (Stamp Week 2013), one will notice that the event is actually called as OMG Stamp Week 2013. I was told that OMG stands for Oh Memang Gempa. The OMG has been used on this type annual philatelic event by Pos Malaysia since year 2012. It is interesting to see if the next stamp week event would be called as OMG Stamp Week 2014.
